Engineering Manager - Based in Buckinghamshire
This role is office-based with some flexible working.
Basic salary: £70,000 up to £85,000 depending on experience, plus bonus, enhanced pension, share options, private medical, and many more.
Due to continued expansion, my client is seeking an experienced Engineering Development Manager to help drive their business to the next phase of technical innovation and growth.
As the Engineering Development Manager, your role will combine your technical leadership and people management skills, along with project management responsibilities whilst collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams including hardware, electronics, firmware, and software engineers.
Ideally, you will have a bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field or be qualified by experience with proven engineering experience and strong technical leadership skills.
You will facilitate complex engineering discussions, drive research and development initiatives, and ensure successful project delivery while working collaboratively with various engineering team leaders.
Duties
1. Lead complex engineering projects from conception to delivery, coordinating across hardware, electronics, firmware, and software disciplines.
2. Drive technical decision-making and innovation through expert engineering knowledge and leadership; facilitate technical discussions and problem-solving sessions between different engineering disciplines.
3. Mentor and guide engineering teams in technical matters while collaborating with functional managers.
4. Liaise with other areas of the business, translating customer and product requirements into detailed technical specifications across multiple engineering disciplines.
5. Manage and oversee project schedules, risks, and dependencies while ensuring efficient resource allocation.
6. Drive research and development initiatives and technical innovation across the engineering organization.
7. Coordinate with the engineering team leaders to ensure alignment on technical direction and project goals.
8. Lead continuous improvement in development processes and methodologies.
9. Report directly to the Engineering Director on project progress and technical initiatives.
You will have experience leading complex technical projects involving multiple engineering disciplines with a proven track record of driving technical decision-making and innovation. Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to see the bigger technical picture are essential. You should be an excellent communicator, both written and spoken, with good interpersonal skills and the ability to influence without direct authority. Experience facilitating technical discussions and decision-making across different engineering teams is also required.
