Working as part of a small and dedicated team based at Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford, part of the Estates & Facilities Division at Leighton Hospital, Crewe.
The Catering Supervisor’s role is to efficiently plan and maintain a high standard of meals for the 30 bedded in patient unit at Elmhurst.
• Preparation of hot meals and snacks for inpatients at Elmhurst.
• Ordering of food provisions and thorough cleaning of the kitchen and stock rooms.
• To maintain cleaning schedules with the Hazard Analysis criteria, monitor and rectify where necessary.
• Ensure departmental staff timesheets are produced in a timely manner and forwarded on appropriately.
• To report and document all faults, risks and maintenance issues to relevant people.
• To process all orders via Integra and Logistics on line systems.
• To organise systems to check supplies coming into the catering department and process documentation and invoices accordingly.
• To ensure al COSHH policies are adhered to and reported on.
• To ensure all infection control policies are met throughout the department.
• To report any deficiency in Health & Safety systems to the operational management.
• To co-operate fully with training for Health & Safety purposes.
• To continue to manage a high standard and efficient catering service and an effective and professional team at Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre.

This will involve weekly menu planning, ordering of meals for the patients; some of whom have complex dietary needs placing appropriate orders accurately and in a timely manner.
To advise staff on procedures relating to work practices and equipment to meet Health & Safety guidelines and Environmental Health Standards.
To ensure a clean and safe working kitchen environment and all catering equipment is maintained.
To report any faults in an appropriate and timely manner. To liaise with nursing staff to meet the nutritional requirements of the patients.
To be aware of budgetary constrictions and mindful of quality standards.
To organize weekly rotas for the catering team and a system in place to check supplies, processing documentation and invoices.
Maintaining the rota and identifying staff annual leave / sickness absence responding to staff shortages to maintain the service.
To act as a link with visits by the Environmental Health Agency for announced or unannounced visits.
