About the job you're considering
Capgemini Engineering is looking for a dynamic, team-focused High Performance Materials Engineer with a focus on composite materials to join the existing team. Your role will be to support operations of both industry leading and new emergent companies in the aerospace sector.
Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Your Role
Working directly on-site or remotely with the customer, you will take a key role in delivering Capgemini Engineering and customer projects. You will utilise engineering principals and knowledge to support a wider range of topics – with an emphasis on, but not limited to, carbon fibre primary structure applications in conjunction with aerospace metallic materials and manufacturing principals.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Developing and providing materials design guidance from first principals, covering predominantly:
1. Composite materials / Reinforced Plastic
2. Aluminium – tempers/conditions, surface treatments, applications
3. Titanium – surface treatments, applications
4. Adhesive bonding
5. Mechanical fastening
2. Support material selection and certification activities:
1. Defining, planning and executing test campaigns in support of the above.
2. Create and maintain material compatibility and surface protection practices and manuals.
3. Develop Material Specifications to ensure materials meet required performance, quality, and compliance standards for production.
4. Manage and generate relevant documentation for the Technical Qualification of materials.
5. Generate Manufacturing Engineering process instructions (Assembly principals, Sealant and anti-corrosion, Process validation).

Your skills and experience
Qualifications:
1. Degree or equivalent experience in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or other relevant fields with specialization in composites.
Experience:
1. Experience in aerospace engineering with a focus on composite materials is desirable.
2. Experience in managing and generating documentation for material qualification and certification procedures.
3. Experience in developing and implementing manufacturing process specifications and material specifications.
4. High competence in at least one of the above technical areas, with demonstrable ability across the remaining areas desirable.
5. Strong knowledge of materials science, including composite materials, material compatibility, surface protection practices, and material qualification processes.
6. Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage Jira boards and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with the core team and external stakeholders.
8. Attention to detail and the ability to generate precise and comprehensive documentation.
9. Flexibility to adapt to changing project needs and priorities.

Your Security Clearance
To be successfully appointed to this role you will need to undergo Baseline Personnel Security Standard checks.
There are no nationality or residency restrictions, although if you have resided outside of the UK within the last 3 years, further checks may be required.
