Complex Needs Support Worker
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Start Date: September 2024
Salary: £83 – £100 per day
Contract Type: Full Time

GSL Education are seeking a number of Complex Needs Support Workers to work at an Ofsted rated “Good” Secondary school York starting in September 2024.
About the School:
* With an emphasis on SEN children, this school is for secondary aged students, aged from 11 - 19 years which aims to provide SEN students and staff with exceptional standards of care and education.
* Every student at the School has a learning disability, and some of them also require extra special education services due to physical or sensory needs.
* The school provides its students with a customized, individualized curriculum that is in line with their needs and goals and closely related to the outcomes listed in each child's Education, Health, and Care Plan.
* Ensuring the safety of all members of the school community is their top priority, and they collaborate closely with partners around the region in this regard.
* The school has established a committed team that provides continuous feedback and collaborates with many professional partners to guarantee that all of its young people receive the necessary help when needed.
* One of the main goals of the school is to prepare students for adulthood.
Complex Needs Support Worker Responsibilities:
* Supporting children and young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, severe learning difficulties, and complex medical needs.
* Collaborating with the students,family and relevant partied to develop and implement a student centred service plan to meet their social, emotional and developmental needs.
* Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to implement individualized education and care plans.
* Working with the class teachers to develop sensory, speech, language, and communication needs.
* Managing behaviours within the classroom and being aware of triggers, using de-escalation techniques.
* Use specialist equipment and techniques to support students' learning and development.
Complex Needs Support Worker Requirements:
* Relevant qualifications in health and social care or a related field (, Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care).
* Experience working with children or young adults with complex needs in an educational or care setting..
* Be a strong and engaging communicator.
* Be compassionate, caring, and have a genuine desire to help young people overcome their barriers.
* Hold a DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
