Job Summary We are seeking a Trainee / Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all costs related to building and civil engineering / Highways projects, ensuring that the project is completed within its projected budget. This role requires a strong understanding of cost control and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, and overheads. Monitor project expenditures and conduct regular cost analysis to ensure adherence to budgets. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to assess project requirements and specifications. Conduct site visits to evaluate progress and identify any potential cost overruns or delays. Prepare tender documents, contracts, and agreements for procurement of services and materials. Negotiate terms with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best possible prices. Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions related to projects. Provide advice on contractual claims and disputes as they arise during the project lifecycle. Requirements Proven experience in cost control within the construction industry is highly desirable. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders. Proficient in using quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite. A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong organisational skills. Membership or eligibility for membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS) is an advantage but not mandatory.
