We are seeking a strategic thinking Planning and Development Director to shape the future of our marinas and deliver transformative growth.
The Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a strategic thinker with planning, development, and real estate experience to join our exceptional leadership team. Reporting to the CEO, the Planning and Development Director will spearhead the strategic planning, design, and consent process for landside development projects across our portfolio. This will include concept design of new developments, the enhancement of existing assets, and asset management of the Group’s real estate portfolio.

Key responsibilities:
1. Strategic Planning: Site master planning. Developing strategies to maximise the long-term commercial value of Premier’s sites. Creating destinations which affirm Premier’s position as the UK’s leading marina operator. Considering the environmental and sustainability implications of development activity and real estate management.
2. Project Management: Managing development projects from initial concept to development consent. Management of budgets and consultant teams. Developing and monitoring project plans.
3. Regulatory Compliance: Responsibility for compliance with planning, environmental and all other aspects of the development permitting process.
4. Asset Management: Leadership of the group’s real estate function. Developing effective economic strategies to maximise return on real estate assets. Service charge management.
5. Stakeholder Engagement: Building strong relationships with Officers, Members, community groups, and consultants. Representing the business at planning meetings and public consultation events. Collaboration with internal stakeholders.
6. Financial Oversight: Developing and managing development budgets. Providing financial analysis and project updates to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
1. Strategic thinking: You can demonstrate your ability to think strategically and with a commercial mindset. Previous master planning experience would be an advantage.
2. Development experience: You have previous experience of taking a development project from concept through the design, feasibility and development consent stages.
3. Planning experience: You must be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of the development consent landscape in the UK. Proven experience of managing a significant planning application (e.g. an application requiring an Environmental Impact Assessment) would be an advantage.
4. Real Estate management: You have experience of commercial and residential property and service charge management.
5. Leadership skills: You will be expected to show excellent leadership and people management skills, the ability to motivate and mentor a team as well as experience of managing multidisciplinary consultant teams. Experience managing external stakeholders would be an advantage.
6. Financial Literacy: You have experience in budgeting, forecasting and financial management for significant development projects.
7. Professional Qualification: You hold an appropriate qualification such as Chartered Surveyor (MRICS) or Chartered Town Planner (MRTPI).
