Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Firestop Inspector to oversee and ensure compliance with firestopping requirements at a high-security nuclear facility. The successful candidate must have extensive firestop qualifications and experience in large-scale or high-security projects within critical industries such as nuclear, oil and gas, defense, or infrastructure.
About the Role:
* Conduct thorough inspections of firestopping installations to ensure compliance with nuclear facility fire protection standards, building codes, and safety regulations.
* Verify that firestop systems are installed correctly according to manufacturer specifications, regulatory guidelines, and project requirements.
* Maintain detailed inspection reports, documenting deficiencies and recommending corrective actions.
* Coordinate with engineering, construction, and quality assurance teams to ensure firestopping is integrated effectively within the project scope.
* Provide expert guidance on firestop systems, materials, and best practices to contractors and stakeholders.
* Ensure adherence to nuclear safety protocols and participate in audits and regulatory reviews as needed.
* Conduct training and awareness sessions on firestop inspection and compliance standards.
* Work within a high-security environment, following strict access control and confidentiality requirements.
About You:
* Minimum 8 years of experience in firestop inspections, fire protection, or related fields.
* Must possess recognized firestop qualifications, such as; FM 4991 (Firestop Exam Certification), UL Qualified Firestop Inspector Certification, PFP or Equivalent industry-recognized firestop training.
* Prior experience on large-scale industrial, nuclear, defense, or other high-security projects is required.
* In-depth knowledge of fire codes, building regulations, and nuclear safety standards.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings, firestop plans, and construction documents.
* Strong report-writing skills with proficiency in inspection documentation and compliance reporting.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills to liaise effectively with engineers, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
* Physically capable of performing inspections in various facility environments.
Security & Clearance Requirements:
* Must be a British citizen since birth (due to security clearance requirements).
* Must be eligible for and able to obtain high-level security clearance for working within a nuclear facility.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience in a nuclear facility, oil and gas, defense, or government-regulated sector.
* Additional certifications in fire protection engineering, safety management, or quality assurance.
