Administration and Clerical Officer - Bowel Cancer Screening

The Shropshire Bowel Cancer Screening Centre has a rare and exciting opportunity to recruit a full-time Administration & Clerical Officer to support the continued development of this national programme.
The post-holder will be based at William Farr House at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, however will be required to work regularly at the service's other screening site, The Princess Royal Hospital in Telford. The service currently runs over 6 days, Monday to Saturday, however this may extend to 7-day working as the programme expands.
To fulfil this role you will need good communication and organisational skills. You must have the ability to work under pressure, prioritise workloads and work to deadlines. Keyboard skills with experience of data inputting are essential. Along with 4 GCSE's including English and Maths (grade 4 - 9 or equivalent) and an NVQ Level 2 in Administration or equivalent, you must have previous office experience.
Main duties of the job
The role involves general administrative duties such as assisting with the organisation of patient appointments, ensuring all relevant databases are maintained accurately, retrieving patient case notes, and filing.
You will also provide support to senior members of staff, take minutes in the absence of the co-ordinator, and respond to telephone calls from patients, carers, and professional staff.
About us
The team comprises a Programme Manager, Lead Specialist Screening Practitioner, Programme Co-ordinator, 3 Admin & Clerical Officers, and 10 Specialist Screening Practitioners.
The Centre has been managing the screening programme covering the geographical area of Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin since 2009. The screening sites are at The Royal Shrewsbury and The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. This service currently offers diagnostic tests for 54 - 74 year olds in Shropshire after a positive faecal immunochemical test (FIT), in addition to the regular colonoscopy surveillance of patients with Lynch Syndrome.
We are a very friendly, enthusiastic team who strive to provide the highest standard of care for all members of the screening population who choose to participate in bowel screening.
We offer opportunities for further training and development and are always looking for innovative ways of working as we move to extend the screening age range down to age 50 as part of the NHS Long Term Plan.

Person Specification
* 4 GCSE's including Maths and English (Grade C / 4-9 and above) or equivalent
Professional / Technical Qualifications
* NVQ Level 2 in Administration or equivalent
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Email
* ECDL Course or equivalent
Work Experience
