Main duties of the job The role of the Applied Psychologist in the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Multiagency Personality Service (HMAPS) is to be part of a specialist team who provide consultation, formulation, and intervention services in relation to people on probation who have personality difficulties and whose personality traits are associated with their offending and result in challenges managing them. The service provides consultation to probation officers, and assessment, formulation and intervention to a caseload of high-risk people under probation who have offended. Intervention aims to support people under probation supervision in the community through their licence period. The aim is to ensure that intervention and management of people with personality difficulties who have offended is psychologically- and trauma-informed through both training and supervision, joint working with the probation officer, and individual work with the person who has committed an offence. The service is based in the offices above Ravenswood House Medium Secure Unit (near Fareham). Work is community-based and will be delivered in a range of NHS and non-NHS (for example Probation offices and approved premises/probation hostels) premises across Hampshire but primarily in Southampton, Portsmouth and Basingstoke.
