Job Introduction
We are seeking an Operator (Overhead Lines) based in Llanfihangel-ar-arth, Carmarthenshire. The role involves assisting a Craftsperson with constructing, maintaining, replacing, and repairing overhead lines up to 33kV. Some electrical experience is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided.
The work requires being away from the depot, typically in a team of two. It demands quick, decisive, and responsible actions in a dynamic environment. Responsibilities include ensuring the van is equipped with necessary tools, working safely, and assisting with labor on-site. Flexibility in working hours and a valid driving license are essential. Candidates must have GCSEs in English and Maths or equivalent qualifications, with proof required before employment.
Main Responsibilities
* Working at heights on all types of overhead lines
* Undertaking deadwork on LV, HV, and EHV systems under supervision
* Operating mechanical equipment
* Inspecting poles and overhead equipment, fixing minor defects
* Tree trimming and felling
* Excavating, laying cables, and backfilling
* Excavating pole and stay holes
* Delivering shutdown notices and scheduling appointments
* Handling customer complaints directly where possible
Flexibility and mobility are required, including standby duties. All roles involving working at height and using fall protection equipment have weight restrictions. The role is subject to a DBS check and other vetting procedures as applicable.
