An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Skilled Gardener to manage a beautifully diverse 25-acre estate garden. This is a full-time position for an individual with a deep passion for horticulture and a keen eye for detail.
This 25-acre garden features an array of stunning elements, including a five-acre field, a picturesque lake with an island that holds a topiary garden, a formal parterre with eight rose beds, and a knot garden. There are also traditional cottage garden borders, shrub borders, a productive vegetable garden, and a 140-year-old orchard.
Assistance in the garden is currently provided by a consultant horticulturist (one day per month), a full-time maintenance gardener, and a live-in couple that assist with the gardens occasionally. This role will involve overseeing and coordinating the team, ensuring tasks are efficiently divided and carried out to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee and coordinate the gardening team.
2. Manage kitchen gardening and production of fruits and vegetables.
3. Ensure health and safety regulations are adhered to.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Extensive experience in kitchen gardening.
2. Confidence with tools and machinery.
3. Proven experience in a similar role within an estate or large garden setting.
4. Full UK driving licence.
5. DBS check required for the successful candidate.
Spraying certificates (PA1/PA6) and a chainsaw certification would be desirable, however not essential.
SALARY: up to £31,000
