Job Description
Mechanical Project Engineer
My client is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their Project Team and work alongside Project Managers, Electrical, and Civil Engineers to deliver MEICA Projects for Wastewater Treatments around the Aberdeen area. You will be responsible for managing and delivering mechanical projects yourself, as well as supporting others in managing the design and delivery of mechanical scope for their projects.
Knowledge & Skills
* Mechanical Engineering Knowledge and Experience is essential; good to have some Electrical or Civil Engineering Knowledge. Steel Frame and Pipework Fabrication and Design and Installation Knowledge and Experience will be desirable.
* Highly competent in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Understanding of H&S requirements for each specific project and familiarity with CDM2015.
* Project Management / Site Management experience.
* Good Problem Solving Skills.
* Good team player and responsible for the tasks assigned by the Team Leader.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
* Scope Management - Support OPS in developing the business case and solutions; responsible for delivering the project once project scope is agreed.
* Design Management - Managing design consultants/contractors to develop the agreed solution into a design package and manage estimates; able to identify key design documents required for projects and review them.
* Budget Management - Understand and manage project costs/forecasts; able to review contractor quotations and build up project estimates.
* Risk Management - Identify project risks (H&S and Financial) and proactively manage these risks from the concept stage to handover and project closure; effectively manage actions to remove, mitigate, or control risks to minimize impacts on projects.
* Planning - Use Microsoft Project to create and maintain project plans; understand the critical path/critical activities of each project.
* Procurement / Commercial Awareness - NEC3 or NEC4 experience, understanding different options and associated risks; effectively use NEC forms once contracts are in place, e.g., EW and CE.
* Construction Management - Manage contractors to ensure they are working safely and efficiently on site; problem solving.
* Handover - Manage the handover smoothly and ensure projects are closed on time with outputs delivered.
Ideal to have
* Water Industry Experience or similar.
