We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic team in this renowned department. As a valued member, you will actively participate in conducting a diverse array of physiological tests under supervision. These tests encompass a broad spectrum, ranging from full lung function tests with body plethysmography, to cardiopulmonary exercise tests, as well as provocation tests, hypoxic inhalation tests, and more.
In addition to your clinical duties, you will play a crucial role in supporting research endeavours within our Clinical Research Unit. This involvement will entail performing physiological measurements for various research projects.
Main duties of the job
Responsibilities include:
* Conducting physiological tests under appropriate supervision.
* Ensuring accurate and informative results from patients and other test subjects, and creating comprehensive test reports.
* Implementing all necessary quality control procedures within the department, including personal biological control procedures.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
* Perform physiological tests under supervision.
* Participate in research projects and extended hours lung function rota.
* Maintain quality control procedures and assist with equipment maintenance.
* Assist with respiratory tests on hospital wards.
* Ensure cleanliness of departmental areas and equipment.
* Adhere to infection control policies.
Physiological Tests:
* Conduct routine and specialized tests including lung volume measurements, bronchodilator tests, gas transfer measurements, and more.
* Implement trust policies and protocols within the department.
* Assist in service development through audits and research trials.
People Management:
* Engage in the trust appraisal process and pursue continuous professional development.
* Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other members of the trust.
* Supervise patients during tests and discuss results with discretion and patient confidentiality.
Resource Management:
* Safely use complex equipment and report faults.
* Monitor stock levels and ensure routine maintenance.
Information Management:
* Ensure proper storage of patient data.
General:
* Attend mandatory training courses and adhere to Trust policies.
* Perform any other duties assigned by the departmental Lead Physiologist.

Person Specification
Knowledge/Qualifications
* Scientific knowledge acquired to Clinical Physiology BSc or equivalent.
Skills
* Familiar with using computer software packages to analyse complex data.
* Familiarity and knowledge of using scientific equipment through education or work.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Evidence of following protocols or procedures to complete tasks.
* Evidence of innovation skills.
Experience
* Evidence demonstrated of application of a good scientific background.
* Has worked within a team environment.
* Previous Lung Function experience either during study or employment.
