An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Optometry team as a band 6 Optometrist.
This is a secondary care post that will suit those who have carried out a pre-registration post in a hospital and have either completed their training or are due to complete imminently. The post will also suit someone with relevant skills/ experience that is are keen to develop their clinical skills. The post holder will work alongside experienced clinical colleagues in the delivery of core optometry services and there is also an opportunity to support the Electrophysiology Service.
You will work within our multi- disciplinary team and provide core optometry services including adult and paediatric ( cycloplegic) refraction, medical contact lenses and low vision services. Full training will be given.
It is anticipated that as part of your career progression you will want to work towards extended roles. Funding for college higher qualifications/ACP qualifications is available so that you can develop skills towards a varied weekly timetable

You will have access to senior clinicians to guide you and consolidate your skills in optometry. We are part of the regional teaching for ophthalmology with easy access to training alongside our ophthalmology colleagues.
Routine and complex refraction adult and Children.
Delivering Optometrist/Orthoptics led paediatric cycloplegic refraction clinics at Oxford Eye Hospital site and from other peripheral outreach clinics in the county.
Work within the multidisciplinary clinics alongside Ophthalmologists in delivery of non-cycloplegic and cycloplegic paediatric refractions.
Deliver low vision clinics -assessment of needs, loan of optical aids and signposting to support services.
Medical contact lens fitting and aftercare management of keratoconus, aphakia, graft and bandage lens fitting. Fitting of scleral lenses – full and mini scleral lens designs.
