Summary
We are looking for a Behaviour Support Officer to support our students at our academy.
Main Areas of Responsibility
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Supporting the implementation of the Behaviour for Learning Policy
2. The calm and purposeful entrance and exit of students into/out of and around the academy
3. Ensuring students are monitored and supervised before school, during break and throughout lunch
4. Managing late detentions
5. Ensuring that students enter the building in full academy uniform and if not, following agreed procedures
6. Ensuring that follow up action is taken for students failing to meet academy standards
7. Following through any behaviour issues, such as taking student statements regarding incidents and passing these on
8. Informally mentoring students on PSPs
9. Ensuring issues relating to student safety are passed on to academy colleagues, in a timely manner, for further investigation
10. Supervising students internally excluded or exited from lessons
11. Delivering the curriculum offer for the students attending the supervision room
12. Ensuring appropriate work is provided and appropriate provision is in place
13. Liaising with parents/carers and relevant staff to ensure smooth transition to and from internal exclusion
14. Being a role model for the students in the supervision room
15. Providing the students with very clear expectations of conduct, in line with those for all academy students, and ensuring action is taken when these are not met
16. Liaising with the Heads of House and Assistant Principals to support monitoring of students on behaviour and attendance/punctuality reports
17. Ensuring that designated students have up-to-date report cards and that completed cards are filled appropriately
18. Keeping records of poor punctuality and organising late detentions
19. Carrying out administrative tasks
20. Assisting the academy Leadership Group in maintaining the highest standards of attendance and punctuality to lessons
21. Overseeing the registration of students who are late to the academy
Qualifications & Experience
We would like to hear from you if you have:
1. GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above, or equivalent
2. Knowledge of behaviour for learning policies
3. Knowledge of the range of barriers to learning that students face
4. Training in child protection and safeguarding procedures
5. Basic knowledge of first aid e.g. emergency first aid course
6. Two years' experience of working in an inner city school or educational establishment
7. Experience of dealing successfully with a range of behaviour issues
8. Experience of working with staff to ensure excellent behaviour for learning
9. Experience of working with families
10. Experience of supervising a group of students for detentions, referral and internal exclusion as appropriate
11. Experience of working with challenging students and finding ways in which we can meet their needs more successfully
