As part of their growth strategy, they are looking for an experienced National Account Controller to lead, develop, and deliver commercial relationships with key national accounts. National Account Controller - The Job Role Details:
As a National Account Controller, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of national grocery retail, foodservice, and processor accounts. You will develop and execute commercial strategies, oversee key negotiations, and build long-term sustainable partnerships. This role requires strong leadership skills, financial acumen, and a deep understanding of the fresh produce supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage key national accounts, ensuring commercial objectives are met and exceeded.
* Develop and execute strategic business plans to drive sales growth and profitability.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key buyers, procurement teams, and senior stakeholders.
* Oversee category management strategies, ensuring alignment with market trends and consumer demands.
* Negotiate contracts, pricing structures, and promotional plans to maximise profitability.
* Conduct regular business reviews, providing insights on market performance, EPOS data, and competitor activity.
* Work collaboratively with internal teams, including supply chain, procurement, and technical teams, to ensure seamless service delivery.
* Lead and mentor a team of commercial professionals, driving best practices and performance.
* Identify and capitalise on new business opportunities, ensuring a proactive approach to market growth.
* Ensure compliance with customer and industry standards such as BRC, Leaf, Global Gap, and ETI.
Ideal Person Skills & Qualifications:
* Extensive experience managing national accounts in fresh produce, FMCG, or food supply.
* Proven track record of developing and implementing successful commercial strategies.
* Strong leadership and team management experience.
* Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills with a track record of securing high-value contracts.
* Financially astute with experience managing P&L, forecasting, and commercial reporting.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive strategic decision-making.
* Experience in category management and developing customer-specific joint business plans.
* Knowledge of global supply chains, sourcing, and logistics within fresh produce.
* Highly resilient, results-driven, and capable of working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Essential Requirements:
* Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
* Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across the UK and internationally.
