Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of a small friendly team which provides a logistics delivery service, based at our Distribution Centre Estover Plymouth.
This post will work as part of the logistics team that picks, drives and delivers goods from our Distribution Centre to all 11 hospital floors, covering duties from 07:30 to 17:00.
Demonstrable experience working in a goods-inwards / stock control situation would be a distinct advantage, as well as good IT skills, as the team will be using the Trust’s electronic stock control system to capture electronic signatures.
The ability to work on own initiative (prioritising own workload if necessary) is a key element of this role.
Applicants would need to be physically fit as the post involves moving, lifting and delivery of medical consumables.
This post also requires a current driving license, and a forklift license would be an advantage, though training can be provided.
Main duties of the job
1. To work within a small team providing a stock picking, delivery, distribution and collection service within the Distribution Centre and around the Derriford Hospital site.
2. To make deliveries to offsite locations using departmental transport.
3. To offload (and load) delivery vehicles using the departmental forklift, and to move goods around the site using the forklift as required.
4. To provide basic support to other members of the Goods Inwards team in the event of sickness or absence.
