Position Overview:
As a Finning Field Engineer, you will respond to customer’s Marine repair and service requests. You will be responsible for diagnosing and providing comprehensive detail about the nature of the problem to the customer and Finning to create a quote as per the request of the customer within a cost and time-effective manner.
Job Description:
Working within Finning’s industry-leading field service department, and for the largest CAT dealer in the UK and Ireland, you will be at the forefront of the company's on-site diagnostic and repair capabilities for Caterpillar products.
Your role will be to execute the maintenance, overhaul, troubleshooting, repair, testing, and commissioning (as the case may be) of Caterpillar and MaK engines, packages, and systems installed in vessels.

Major Job Functions:
* Provide an estimate of arrival time at the customer’s location in response to service requests based on job instructions from the Branch.
* Contact customer’s site management to register arrival and ensure knowledge of customer procedures.
* Diagnose the likely cause of reported equipment problems, in discussion with customer operators/supervisors and using specialized equipment.
* Identify the parts required to carry out the repair and requisition any parts.
* Undertake repair and service work on the machine to the agreed work plan.

Required Knowledge:
* Knowledge in the use of field-based diagnosis tools and equipment.
* Knowledge and experience of in-depth repair of marine engines.
* Medium & high-speed marine engines, packages, and systems.
* Electronic, mechanical, and electrical engineering principles.
Accountability:
Undertake a local site risk assessment prior to commencing service work, preparing an appropriate method statement in line with standard situation procedures and principles. Inspect and test completed machine to ensure unit is operating to expected performance levels, reporting any further defects or suspect conditions to the customer.
Education:
• Formally apprentice trained (NVQ Level 3) and served engineer.
