Job summary – What to expect: We have an exciting opportunity for you to join a dynamic team as a Distribution Operator. Your role will be to carry out a range of varied tasks, as requested by your Team Leader to pick, sort, scan, package & dispatch contact lenses to ensure customer requirements, production performance targets, and quality standards are met and when possible exceeded. What will you be doing: Picking materials & lenses for customer orders in accordance with company procedures & work instructions: Picking lenses from OSR and Pick to light moving machinery. Picking lenses from standard picking locations (WQ and RFX) Picking lenses from racking locations using Wav Machines at height. Collating fully picked orders and moving to multi tote sorting area. Pre-sorting lenses for customer orders in accordance with company procedures & work instructions: Manually pre-sort orders in line with customer requirements. Scanning fully picked customer orders in accordance with company procedures & work instructions Following bespoke customer requirements scan fully picked orders using computerized stock systems. Packing finished orders into cartons and onto pallets Using pallet trucks to move loads Dispatching customer orders in accordance with company procedures & work instructions Following bespoke customer requirements sort orders for shipment and complete paperwork: Loading trucks Communication with the shipping office and recording of data in accordance with company procedures & work instructions, written and / or computerized Ensure best practices are followed in line with Standard operating procedures, GMP/5s, and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure housekeeping such as basic cleaning and removal of waste at the end of each sift as directed by your Team Leader. Comply with health and safety regulations within the team and the environment ensuring safe practice regarding use of equipment (i.e. machinery, lift truck, manual handling equipment etc) and general good housekeeping to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible, a team player, also able to work alone as well as within a team, with good inter-personal skills, and who has a good working knowledge of warehouse procedures and environment. Understanding of Lean, continuous improvements, Health and Safety preferred. PC literate, basic skills in the use of Microsoft Office Use of manual handling equipment, e.g. Wav Machine, Pump Trucks and Trollies. Ability to read, understand and work to SOP’s/ Work Instructions Must be able to provide feedback to the Team Leader / Senior Operator on work levels, machine and material issues on a regular basis. Be aware of and contribute to continuous improvement projects as appropriate Distribution operators are required to be multi-skilled (pick, scan, pack and dispatch) so should receive any new training and assist in the training of other operators as required. Training must be in accordance with the necessary SOP’s and associated documentation If required, participate in internal & external audits to ensure compliance to relevant ISO/FDA & customer requirements Use of systems where appropriate (Oracle, JDA) Good communication skills with the ability to communicate well with all team members including line managers and support operations in English Positive attitude and ability to self-motivate and demonstrate initiative to promote team working. Team player with ability to relate to people and form relationships easily Able to handle repetitive work and to ensure consistency of work standards. The post works within a demanding, yet informal, English speaking environment where there is an ongoing expectation and responsibility to maximise productivity time and productivity levels to ensure targets are met. Able to identify process waste (TIMWOODS), suggest ideas for improvement and actively participate in CI activities and Kaizen events (as appropriate).
