The Learning Disability Service in Dorset is staffed by a passionate and dedicated team and is looking for a like-minded nurse to join us. This is an excellent opportunity to practice within the challenging yet rewarding field of community learning disability nursing.
Working 30 - 37.5 hours per week, the successful candidate will be experienced in working in partnership with people with learning disabilities, their families, and carers, supporting them to live successfully in the community. You will be committed to improving outcomes for our service users and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The band 6 role advertised will be based in Bridport but will cover the West Dorset area.
Main duties of the job
You will be able to demonstrate your commitment to work proactively and in partnership with people with learning disabilities, their families, and carers, and support them to live successfully in the community. This role requires you to use excellent interpersonal and communication skills to support service users and their families and to maintain effective links with mainstream services. You will be committed to supporting individuals' health needs and providing health promotion to support and empower people with a learning disability.
The team uses their specialist clinical skills and experience to assess, plan care, offer treatment, and review, working closely alongside colleagues from other disciplines, external care providers, as well as the individual and their families.
The team uses a combination of virtual and in-person contacts with professionals and service users alike.
Clinical documentation is in electronic form and training is given to all new staff.
Working hours are Monday - Friday 9am to 5pm, with some flexibility to meet individual needs.

Person Specification
Knowledge, skills, and training
* Registered Nurse RNLD/RMN/RGN
* ENB 998/Learning and assessing in clinical practice or equivalent teaching/mentoring qualification
Job specific experience
* Experience at working at level band 5
* Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983, MAPPA, and CPA
* Knowledge of Child Protection and Adult Safeguarding
* Ability to assess, develop, plan, and evaluate programmes of care
* Evidence of experience of working with people with a learning disability
* Experience of communicating with people with varying communication needs
Managerial/supervisory experience
* Working knowledge of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct
* Experience of supervision and mentoring of other staff including students
Information Technology
* Basic IT skills
* Evidence of supporting or training others
