Job summary
We have a great opportunity for a Health, Safety and Fire Safety Manager. In this key role you will act as a subject matter expert in health, safety and fire safety legislation and the application of legal requirements within HM Land Registry. Working collaboratively across all directorates you will ensure health, safety and fire safety management is at the core of all HMLR activities.
This role is a great development opportunity; we will support you financially to complete your IOSH level 6 within 2 years of taking up employment. You will be fully supported in continuous professional development including working towards Chartered Status and any learning goals identified in your IOSH Blue print where applicable. We will also support you in obtaining your Institution of Fire Engineers Accreditation. You will have opportunities to work with cross government colleagues and health and safety leaders, gaining insight and experience in a wide variety of health and safety topics.
Job description
In this role you will provide assurance and advice on Health, Safety and Fire Safety standards for the estate, delivering organisational and cultural objectives to ensure a positive Health and Safety culture and environment. You will respond to enquiries and work collaboratively across stakeholders to ensure risks are effectively monitored and controlled and corrective actions are addressed. It will be your responsibility to ensure HM Land Registry’s health and safety management system is current and agile and undertake audits in line with ISO 45001.
Person specification
To be successful in this role you will have a proven track record in a Health and Safety role. You will have a minimum of an IOSH Level 3 Certificate or equivalent accreditation and evidence of continuous professional development. You will have experience in fire risk assessment and be committed to continuous accredited development in fire safety management, e.g., Institute of Fire Engineering (IFE) or equivalent.
You will have experience of managing health and safety compliance for office environments and advising on solutions for reasonable adjustments and workstation risk management. Through your communication skills, you will manage stakeholders and have experience of presenting complex data and delivering health and safety training to stakeholders (including Senior Managers and Line Managers).
Under HM Land Registry’s hybrid approach to working, you will be expected to spend at least 60% of your working time in your contracted home office or from one of our fourteen offices.
Line management of 1 person is part of the role.
Where an individual taking up the responsibility will be based in Swansea Office, the ability to speak Welsh is desirable.
