Material Controller

The Role
A Material Controller is responsible for managing the inventory of the companies products or materials on site.
Key Activities
1. Maintaining and updating inventory records, ensuring accuracy and completeness
2. Monitoring inventory levels and placing orders for replenishment as necessary
3. Coordinating with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials
4. Inspecting incoming materials for quality and quantity
5. Identifying and resolving any discrepancies in inventory records
6. Collaborating with production teams to ensure that materials are always available when needed
7. Implementing and maintaining inventory policies and procedures
8. Conducting regular inventory audits and stocktaking activities
Qualifications and Experience
1. A high school diploma or equivalent
2. A minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory management or a related field
3. Proficiency in using inventory management software and MS Excel
4. Excellent organizational and time management skills
5. Strong attention to detail and accuracy
6. Good communication and interpersonal skills
Work Environment and Conditions
Many Material Controllers work in warehouse or production environments where they will spend much of their time on their feet. They may be required to lift heavy materials on occasion, and they should be comfortable working with a wide range of equipment and machinery. The work can be fast-paced and require quick thinking and problem-solving skills.
Material Controllers can expect to work full-time schedules, with some overtime hours as needed during peak production periods. They may work independently or as part of a team, depending on the size and structure of the company. Depending on their employer, Material Controllers may be required to work evening, weekend, or holiday shifts.
