An opportunity has arisen to join our Highways Team as an Highways Assessment Officer. In this role, you will collaborate with a dedicated team to make a meaningful difference in our services and support the communities we serve.
Your role and responsibilities
* Fulfil Suffolk County Council's statutory duty by conducting regular highway safety inspections
* Respond to customer reports by carrying out ad-hoc safety inspections and providing updates on the outcomes
* Initiate reactive repair works based on inspection findings to restore the highway to a safe condition
* Perform regular audits of completed works to ensure high-quality standards are upheld
* Employ AI technology to assess the condition of the highway effectively.
You will need:
* the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise work, and complete inspections on time, with the flexibility to travel to multiple locations as needed
* to be accurate in identifying defects, recording findings, and providing clear and concise instructions on the required actions
* to learn all associated standards and requirements of the role, with flexibility to work across various locations as needed
* to collaborate with colleagues and the public, ensuring clear communication with a customer-focused approach
* the ability to work with and adapt to developing technology and software systems used in highway management and inspections.
