Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities:
• To provide midwifery care to mothers and babies within the hospital/community settings as required, working flexibly within an integrated team.
• To assess, develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care.
• Formulating a plan of management in collaboration with the woman, her partner and multidisciplinary team to promote safe, effective care.
• Keeping the woman/pregnant person and her partner up to date with her progress.
• To maintain effective communication with women/pregnant people and their partners.
• To maintain accurate, clear and concise written records of women’s/pregnant people's progress in the medical case notes.
• To report the woman’s/pregnant person progress or results to the appropriate member of the medical team as appropriate.
• All employees have a duty for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. Staff must be aware of the Trust’s procedure for raising concerns about the welfare of anyone with whom they have contact. Staff must also ensure they receive the appropriate level of safeguarding children and vulnerable adult training depending on their role in the Trust.
Person specification
Education and Qualifications
* Registered Midwife (currently registered with NMC) with a minimum of 2 years’ experience.
* ENB 997/Teaching & Assessing or equivalent qualification
* Diploma, Degree or MSc in Midwifery, with evidence of further professional development.
Knowledge and Experience
* Registered Midwife with minimum of 2 years’ experience
* Demonstrates a good level of IT skills
* Demonstrates an understanding of the assessment process for students and of creating a positive learning environment.
Skills and Knowledge
* Excellent knowledge base with broad range of expanded roles
* High level of interpersonal and communication skills with a strong ability to network
* Able to demonstrate a broad appreciation and understanding of the organisation and provision of care
* Must have flexible approach to working pattern
* Demonstrate evidence of applying theory to practice
* Can provide example/s of change management and good use of analytical skills
