About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager/Senior Project Manager, initially for 4-6 months on an interim basis, possibly longer, who has a proven track record in commercial, transport and/or highways civil engineering construction design, planning and technical project management delivery.
There is a competitive pay rate available.
Whilst the office base will be York City Centre, easily accessible via car or public transport, we offer flexible working, including home working for which IT equipment will be provided, and we are open-minded in structuring hybrid working arrangements, where feasible.
You’ll be joining at a time when our client is undertaking a period of significant capital investment, across a range of challenging projects, throughout their unique and diverse property and asset portfolio.
The main purpose of the job is to oversee the delivery of the above mentioned types of projects, which may comprise of scheme development, feasibility, outline design, planning consent, procurement and construction of the infrastructure or transport and highway works. Coordination and control of the activities of a wide range of specialist teams and individuals will be necessary.
Some of these projects are ambitious and challenging in terms of timescale, their complexity and the involvement of stakeholders, and we are looking for project managers with both excellent communication skills and the ability to manage a fast-paced programme of implementation. There is also a requirement to provide technical support in liaising with contractors and overseeing works orders as part of the role.
Candidate requirements:
Educated to degree level or with equivalent experience and have a relevant project management qualification or equivalent, alongside knowledge and experience of managing multiple and complex projects.
Experience of the management of construction related projects of varying financial levels/management is essential alongside experience of successfully managing performance and providing feedback to design teams and principal contractors.
Working knowledge of applicable industry standard forms of contract i.e. NEC and JCT
Experience of managing construction projects to successful outcomes within the public or private sector and ideally a familiarity with major highways type programmes and infrastructure projects.
