Project Engineer - 2 Years Fixed Term Contract

This is a site-based role in Worthing, UK.
At our GSC Worthing site, we have a proud heritage in global manufacture of oral antibiotics (solid dose and dry powder suspension). The site also manufactures bulk export material for use at other manufacturing sites in our network.

As a project engineer aligned to packaging project delivery, you will be accountable for providing engineering technical expertise on equipment selection, development of equipment specific validation documents and execution whilst ensuring robust maintenance plans are in place.

In this role you will:
1. Assessment of operational feasibility of new/proposed primary, secondary, tertiary and ancillary packaging materials by running various packaging trials on shop-floor in consultation with value stream.
2. Responsible for the development of equipment URS documents in line with project scope, ensuring GSK Global Engineering Standards, EHS standards, Good Engineering Practice, Standards & Codes of Practice are built in. Develop and execute validation protocols (IQ, OQ, PQ) for new packaging equipment and processes to ensure they meet performance specifications.
3. Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise during the installation, commissioning, and qualification of new packaging equipment.
4. Design and/or implement effective and sustained methods of equipment/production performance measurement and data capture. Champion the use of lean techniques (GPS) and conversion and use of other data to generate trends and similar information to drive and realise continuous improvements.
5. Train and mentor production and maintenance staff on new packaging equipment and processes, ensuring smooth integration into existing operations.
6. Accountable for designing of maintenance life plans in conjunction with equipment suppliers to prevent unnecessary breakdowns through equipment life.

Qualifications & Skills:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
1. HNC/HND (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline or demonstrated knowledge and experience.
2. Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated Project Management skills and experience, particularly on major technical and/or capital projects.
3. Thorough knowledge of GMP and Regulatory requirements.
4. Thorough operational knowledge of manufacturing unit operations.
5. Ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels of the organisation.
6. Proven capabilities in enabling and driving change, delivering solutions, developing people, and building relationships across multiple interfaces and in a matrix environment.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
1. Strong ability to manage and influence stakeholders at site and the wider business.
2. Experience in Operational Excellence tools, and use of process performance metrics.
Manufacturing at the Worthing site is for antibiotics. It is advised that you take this into consideration when deciding to apply for this position. We cannot accept applications from individuals that have an allergy to penicillin due to Health and Safety.
