We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Stores Operative to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive and dynamic environment where your contribution will directly impact the success of our operations.
Purpose of the Role
To support the day-to-day operations of the Stores department, which includes Despatch, Tooling/Finished Parts/Material Store, and Goods Inwards. The role is critical in ensuring the smooth flow of materials, tooling, and finished goods across the business.
Key Responsibilities
1. Pack parts to a high standard, ensuring all relevant packing instructions are followed.
2. Accurately despatch customer orders on time, ensuring all required paperwork (e.g., Machined Parts Certificates of Conformity) is included.
3. Provide materials, tooling, and other items to production promptly and accurately.
4. Receive, check, and record materials/tools from suppliers, rejecting and reporting any non-conforming products.
5. Collaborate with the Quality Department for investigations assisting in processing rejects if they occur, with appropriate paperwork.
6. Perform material cutting using sawing equipment (if trained), adhering to safety policies and risk assessments.
7. Operate a forklift truck for stock movement (if trained) in compliance with safety procedures.
8. Conduct regular stock checks to maintain accuracy, including participation in the annual stock check.
9. Maintain high housekeeping standards in the Stores department.
10. Ensure all scheduling and paperwork are completed accurately and in line with the Business Management System (BMS).
About You
We are looking for a proactive and organised individual with strong communication skills. You will have:
1. Previous experience in a similar environment, preferably in a Stores or Operations role within manufacturing.
2. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
3. Attention to detail and accuracy to avoid errors.
4. A flexible and adaptable approach to meet the needs of the business.
5. A positive, “can-do” attitude to deliver excellent service to internal and external customers.
Desirable
• Forklift truck operation experience (training can be provided).
• Experience with material cutting or similar tasks.
