Commercial Litigation Associate
Calling all commercial litigators! A simply fantastic opportunity if you're looking for a role that sets you apart from your peers. If you've at least a few years of experience in this area, most likely at associate or senior associate level, and are looking to make your mark, then read on to find out how VWV can elevate your every day.
The Role
With our healthcare litigation team enjoying ongoing success, we're looking for a bright and enthusiastic lawyer to come on board.
As regards the work, you'll enjoy a range of high quality work including partnership disputes, procurement challenges, judicial review, as well as contractual disputes and general commercial litigation.
With our healthcare offering going from strength to strength, you'll find yourself working regularly for GPs, dentists, ophthalmologists and other primary healthcare clinicians as well as care home clients. In addition, you'll relish the chance to support the firm within the education and pharmaceutical sectors. Gaining expertise in these areas can really set you apart from your peers, many of whom won't have access to such wide-ranging work at this stage in their career. With our 4 office locations in Bristol, Birmingham, London and Watford, we're open-minded about where you'll be based, although we'd like you to be available to come into one of our offices at least a couple of days a week.
About us
We're a Top 100, full-service UK law firm with just over 500 employees. With 4 offices in Bristol, Birmingham, London and Watford, you'll be struck by our close-knit and friendly culture. We believe in integrity and authenticity - in each one of us being ourselves both in our interactions with each other as well as with our clients. With a reputation not just for the quality of our work, but also for the qualities of our people, we strive to recruit individuals who are proactive and passionate about what they do and able to demonstrate humour and humility in equal measure.
Our Team and Reputation
Here at VWV, we're well renowned for our healthcare offering. Working closely with (Partner - based in our London office), you'll enjoy being part of a small dedicated sub team of healthcare litigation lawyers, with support from a much larger cross-office litigation team. We're friendly, sociable and genuinely enjoy each other's company. Operating across our offices, our healthcare sector offering is a large but close community. We work collaboratively and enjoy supporting each other to make real impact for our clients.
We're widely acclaimed for our healthcare work in general and Chambers (and Partners 2024) recognises Rachel herself as a Notable Practitioner.
About you
You're most likely working at or around associate or senior associate level and have strong experience in commercial litigation. Whilst we'd ideally like you to have a solid platform in commercial litigation work with perhaps some exposure to healthcare, we recognise that everyone's career journey is different. If you're concerned that your experience to date may not be quite right for our role, we'd still be interested to hear from you. For us, your enthusiasm is as important as experience and ability.
Perhaps you're currently working with a Top 100 UK law firm or maybe your career has taken an in-house route. Either way, if you have good experience of providing dispute resolution support and advice and a passion for your subject, then we'd be delighted to hear from you.
Here at VWV, we recognise that each one of us is an individual. We're passionate about creating an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity. If you require any special adjustments to be made in order to be considered for this role, then please do call us (see contact details in the "How to Apply" section below), as we will be happy to do so.
Where will I be working?
At VWV we have a truly unique and engaging culture that we hold dear. We work hard but we also love to have fun and we recognise that it's the social interaction between us that really shapes our culture. Whilst we operate a hybrid model of working, for this role we would like you to commit to working from one of our offices for at least 2 days each week. In this way, you'll benefit first-hand from our warm and friendly culture as well as facilitate cross referral opportunities from your colleagues in other teams. We have healthcare sector lawyers working in every office but the healthcare litigation team is predominantly based in London. We are of course happy to discuss any specific requirements of hybrid working with candidates on an individual basis.
