The paediatric band 6 sister post is an exciting opportunity that will work across the paediatric services at the JPUH. This role will include supporting staff to meet their full potential, leading on governance including incidents, complaints, and issues that arise within the areas.
Main Duties of the Job
The role will involve leading the clinical shift day by day within the paediatric Emergency Department and the children's ward. The role will support staff and will require delegation skills, risk assessing, and working with the MDT. Management roles will be allocated such as staff rotas, training, governance, and overseeing sickness management.
Job Responsibilities
The role will expect professionalism and confidentiality when dealing with the complexities of the role. It would be clinical and would include the use of extended nursing skills. MDT communication is vital as well as working directly with the consultants and resident doctors to ensure care is safe, effective, and well-led. The post holder will know the CQC recommendations and work to ensure that we are compliant with this as well as have a good understanding of facing the future RCPCH paper.

Education and Qualification
* RSCN/RN
* Evidence of continued professional development
* Preparation on mentorship
* Management/Team leadership
Knowledge and Experience
* Experience of shift coordination in an acute setting in the absence of a sister/charge nurse within the last 3 years
* Acute paediatric nursing experience of working in a team and independently
* Paediatric nursing experience in both acute and community settings
Skills and Knowledge
* Ability to work confidently and autonomously and remain calm under pressure
* Flexible approach to working pattern
* Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team

Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 per annum pro rata
