Are you a proven people manager, in the certification or testing industry, looking for your next step? BSI have a fantastic opportunity for a Certification Team Manager to join our electrical & electronics certification team.
As our new Certification Team Manager, your role will be key to the development and growth of the electrical certification schemes, where you will be responsible for overseeing the budget of your department, ensuring customer satisfaction, scheme growth and operational delivery both within the UK and globally.
Another key aspect to this role will be to lead, develop and manage a team of certification managers within our electrical schemes, so you’ll need to hold natural people and team leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
* Pro-active management of the team to ensure effective delivery of client projects to the highest quality, and compliance with operational and administrative procedures and service level agreements.
* Continual review and improvement of the processes needed to ensure effective and efficient deployment of certification related services to clients.
* Monitors client satisfaction for section and ensures any client complaints or queries are addressed in a timely and appropriate manner.
* Manages and effectively executes on own client projects to meet commitments.
* Contributes to budgets with Finance for annual revenue and costs for the section contributing to weekly and quarterly forecasting and managing changing budgetary demands.
* Is the principal person responsible for meeting revenue and profitability targets for the section.
* Key contact person and where appropriate key account manager for BSI regional offices including sales, business development with regional managers and customers worldwide to ensure efficiency and growth of Product Certification within the regions.
* Represents BSI as expert in their field at exhibitions, committees, seminars, industry trade bodies and others to assist in maintaining section knowledge, developing strategy and thought leadership positioning.
* Suggest initiatives to promote, market and grow the business based on knowledge and intelligence gained from the worldwide marketplace.
* Develops and grows the section’s business developing new products or services, new customers, new regions of the world. As appropriate develop plans, strategies and tactics; procedures; training and identify suitable resource. Justifies opportunities to senior management.
* Responsible for maintenance of quality and accreditation and where appropriate ensure new areas of business have the right requirements in place for BSI to offer new service in accordance with growth plans.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
* Experience of effectively managing the performance of remote working teams
* Passionate about coaching and developing others.
* Previous experience in the development and management of electrical certification schemes would be highly desirable such as IECQ, ENEC, CCA or IECEE CB Scheme.
* Degree or equivalent in a relevant technical subject.
* Ideally you will hold previous experience with testing and certification activities used in BSI and other laboratories and certification bodies including trade body certification.
* In depth knowledge of the quality requirements detailed in international good-practice documents (such as ISO 17025 and ISO Guide 65).
* Experience in developing new business areas from scratch for a worldwide business community.
* Experience in setting and monitoring budgets and maintaining cost control.
* Solutions orientated, positive and can-do attitude.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills – capable of communicating technical issues to a wide range of audiences
* Excellent organisation and planning skills.
* Familiarity with all office IT systems and their application to commercial and technical processes.
* Ability to travel within and outside of the UK when required.
