Job Summary
Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow (ST3+ equivalent) to work within Cardiology at QEHB. This post would commence as soon as possible until 03/02/2026 and is an ideal post for those wishing to pursue a career in cardiology and have completed their core general medical training but require more cardiology experience prior to obtaining a training number or working towards an equivalent post. The successful applicant will be provided with an educational supervisor to assist them in any future application. This post would also suit a senior trainee who has completed cardiology training but wishes to gain additional experience in a specific area in a large teaching centre.
Main Duties of the Job
The successful applicants will be expected to assist in the running of cardiology services at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, including in-patient and out-patient management of cardiac patients with a variety of conditions.
They will work at registrar level and will participate in the cardiology registrar on-call rota.
While this is not a research fellow post, there will be opportunities to get involved with commercial and non-commercial cardiac research.
Experience in cardiology at core level is essential and some experience in echocardiography would be an advantage but is not essential as training will be provided.
The successful applicant will be responsible to the Training Lead for Cardiology.
Job Responsibilities
The clinical duties of the post will be the day-to-day care of patients admitted to the cardiology wards including admission, clinical examination, coordination of investigation of elective and emergency cardiac patients and liaison with senior colleagues. Participation in a variety of consultant outpatient clinics is available.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to rotate through a variety of subspecialty teams and there will be sessions and training in echocardiography, invasive cardiac catheterisation, pacing and electrophysiology. Outpatient clinics in adult congenital heart disease, advanced heart failure and inherited cardiac conditions are also available.

1. Medical Degree
2. Minimum of 2 years' full-time (or equivalent part-time) hospital service in the CMT1-2 grade or higher
3. MRCP or equivalent

1. Previous experience in Cardiology during CMT

1. Evidence of experience in advanced heart failure.
2. Having completed or nearing the end of a recognised training programme in adult cardiology.
3. Competencies in transthoracic echocardiogram and cardiac catheterisation.
