Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has come up to join us as an Imaging Support Worker (ISW) in our Clevedon Hospital!
This role is 15hrs per week 8.30am – 5.00pm (Monday & Wednesday). You will primarily work at our Clevedon site; however, there may be times when you will work or have to attend training at the main Southmead Hospital Brunel building.
You will promote a friendly and welcoming environment by greeting patients attending the Imaging department and working alongside other professional Imaging staff.
The main tasks will include assisting patients prior, during, and post procedure, ensuring their privacy and dignity is maintained. You will act as a chaperone, reassure patients, and keep the rooms stocked and tidy.
Flexibility is important; there may be an opportunity to work additional hours to ensure we have adequate staffing levels, and you will need to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
There is an opportunity to learn additional skills working towards progressing to a Band 3 role.
For external applicants, you will be expected to attend a 2-week induction prior to working in the department.

Main Duties of the Job
An Imaging Support Worker is a member of the Team appointed to receive patients into the department and support other Imaging Department staff to assist patients to meet their needs when visiting the Radiology Department. The post holder will be expected to undertake a broad range of activities under the direction of registered Imaging department staff.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
Reception
* Promote a friendly and welcoming environment for both staff and visitors in order to inspire confidence in the department and Trust.
* Receive and assist patients and all visitors attending the department in a courteous and professional manner.
* Ensure request forms and other documentation are correctly completed in line with departmental procedures.
* Maintain and update accurate attendance, personal, and appointment details on the Computerised Radiology Information Systems (CRIS).
* Update the electronic hospital system to ensure the correct patient details are available on the CRIS.
* Confidently deal with queries coming through the department via telephone and face to face.
* Receive and accurately pass on information to relevant personnel.
* Deal with incoming post and distribute throughout their area and where necessary re-direct to the correct area.
* Perform general clerical duties and work within clerical teams under the office supervisor.
Clinical
* Support registered radiology/nursing staff in the provision of essential care to patients by assisting patients whilst in the radiology department according to trust policy and procedures.
Departments Such As
* Acting as a chaperone whilst undergoing some examinations.
* Assisting in the Imaging rooms, giving explanations and reassurance.
* Aiding dressing and undressing.
* Undertaking reception duties when required.
* Helping to promote and maintain a clean, comfortable, and tidy environment in the department, which meets the needs of patients, their relatives/carers, and friends.
* Contributing to accurate written and computerized documentation relevant to patient care, ensuring confidentiality of patient information at all times.
* Assisting the multi-professional team to prepare and support patients undergoing treatment and/or investigation, maintaining privacy and dignity at all times.
* Chaperoning patients during intimate procedures as required.
* Escorting and transporting non-acute patients with no treatment in progress and/or their relatives/carers to other wards and departments within the Trust, via wheelchair, beds, and trolleys.
* Being aware of the importance of good health and the health education needs of patients as identified within individual care plans.
* After completion of the appropriate training, preparing and undertaking agreed clinical activities.
* Receiving and storing medication and products.
* Using mechanical aids to assist movement and handling of patients.
* Assisting with the preparation of trolleys for use in clinical areas.
Personal Responsibilities
* Maintain personal standards of hygiene and promote universal precautions to limit cross-infection.
* Wear uniform as agreed by North Bristol Trust.
* Participate in training and development programmes as identified by the department Manager and contribute to the development of others.
* Keep up to date with changing practice and attend Trust training programmes as required.
* Ensure the Trust’s Policies and Procedures are known and followed.
* Refer to the registered Radiographer/Nurse regarding any situation which is not within your current responsibility.
Person Specification
Education
Essential Criteria
* Minimum two GCSE/O Level qualifications in English and Maths.
* Willingness to complete NBT Care Certificate.
* Good IT skills.

* Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
