TENDERING ENGINEER – FABRICATIONS
PAISLEY/FLEXIBLE
What you will be doing:
An opportunity has arisen for a Tendering Engineer to join the team at Galliford Try within our Environment Business.
Ideally, you will based in or around the Paisley area, however, this role is flexible in terms of location.
To support the growth of the Fabrication Business with increased opportunities, the role has been identified to work alongside the Proposals Manager undertaking tenders within the metalwork/fabrication sectors.
As a Tendering Engineer, you will play a critical role by providing Access Metalwork tenders predominantly within the water sector, you will be working closely with the proposals manager and wider team. You will contribute to the success of our projects here at Galliford Try Fabrication, by ensuring the financial viability and competitiveness of our bids.
You will:
1. Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates.
2. Consult with the Contract Management team as to the ‘constructability’ of the items.
3. Provide design input at the outline, optioneering and detailed design stage of the project.
4. Collaborate with suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for building up tenders.
5. Provide support in developing project budgets, and timelines.
6. Stay informed about industry trends, material costs, and construction methods to enhance the accuracy of estimates.
7. Work with the contract managers / engineers to ensure a smooth transition ‘handover’ from tendering to delivery.
8. Attend meetings in person or online with a number of potential clients and suppliers to support the bidding process.
In addition (training will be given):
9. Complete outline designs for Access Metalwork packages, offer ‘value-add’ solutions and programme/cost efficiencies.
10. Technical review of packages to ensure compliance with BS EN up to and including Ex Class
11. British Standard and Client specification knowledge, checking tender scope for compliance.
12. Attend site meetings at conceptual design stage and offer ideas on notional solutions.
About You:
To be successful in the role of Tendering Engineer, we’re looking for:
13. Proven experience as an Estimator in Structural Steelwork, with a focus on access metalwork.
14. Proficient in using estimating software and Microsoft Office suite.
15. Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and industry best practices.
16. Effective communication and negotiation skills.
17. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
18. An industry applicable ONC/HNC/ or NVQ equivalent
