Senior Estimating Engineer
Location: Warrington/St Helens
Purpose: To oversee and deliver precise estimates for various projects, ensuring the acquisition of profitable contracts.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial technical and contractual reviews of tender enquiries.
- Prepare detailed and precise estimates using QA procedures and computerised estimating packages.
- Obtain competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Perform detailed take-offs to assist in tender reviews and financial control of contracts.
- Collaborate with internal divisions to gather relevant quotations and information.
- Attend site visits and tender review meetings with clients.
- Participate in kick-off meetings to brief project teams on successful tenders.
- Supervise and mentor Estimating Engineers, ensuring timely and complete tender submissions.
Special Features:
- Provide specialist estimating services across the group, requiring comprehensive knowledge of the group’s activities and capabilities.
- Assess the quality of user requirements, scope, specifications, and design for accurate estimations.
- Maintain excellent knowledge of contractual arrangements and estimating practices.
- Interface with all divisions, sales, marketing, sites, and clients, necessitating strong interpersonal skills.
- Manage unpredictable workloads with imposed deadlines, demonstrating exceptional organisational skills, flexibility, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Engage in annual performance reviews and actively participate in training courses.
Qualifications:
- HNC, ONC, or City and Guilds in a relevant discipline.
- Extensive experience in estimating within the chemical, pharmaceutical, nuclear, utilities, and food & drink industries.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficiency in current estimating and commercial practices.
- Strong understanding of engineering and project management practices.
- Knowledge of HSE and QA systems and compliance.
- Effective communication skills at all organisational levels and with clients.
- High computer literacy.
- People management skills with experience in leadership, coaching, and staff development.
