Each organisation plays a distinct role in this service: SWGP Fed lead the service delivery, CC provides consultation support, and IPC is responsible for the contract agreement with the Integrated Care Board (ICB). A vital characteristic of the Clinical Lead is to have a keen interest and specialism in Dermatology and in Primary Care, with a desire to create a strong team who feel passionately about improving access to health in the community. The Primary Care Dermatology Clinical Lead will need to engage with multiple stakeholders and partners across primary and secondary care to enable the service to deliver exceptional care. The Clinical Lead will offer clinical guidance and oversight to the dermatology support team and to clinicians working in the service; ensuring the service remains clinically current and help define and refine the ongoing delivery of PCDS. Activities: Support clinical aspects of the service, attending necessary operational meetings, when appropriate. Ensuring the clinical team are following the latest clinical guidance. Provide clinical support for the strategic development of PCDS. Provide clinical leadership and oversight to the development of the service metrics and the evaluation of the service. Be the services clinical governance lead, continuously improving the quality of services whilst safeguarding high standards. Oversee clinical delivery of the PCDS services, ensuring the processes are effective and meet the needs of the organisation, general practice, and patients. Work with Dermatology Consultants within secondary care and Consultant Connect to ensure they understand the service being provided and what we are trying to achieve. Engage with third parties (for example: Acute Trusts/Consultant Connect) to obtain appropriate support when needed. Involvement in the assessing & recruitment of new doctors to work within the PCDS service. Act as the primary/secondary care clinical interface for the service. Deliver clinical sessions within the service as needed or scheduled. Managing acute results and workflow if other primary care dermatology GPs are unavailable. Providing clinical support/supervision/escalation for the PCDS service. Triaging patients from ERS to make sure suitable for PCDS. Clinical Lead Responsibilities: PCDS Development & Strategy: As the PCDS grows and becomes an established part of the primary care flow; it will be key that the Clinical Lead contributes to the overall direction and development of the PCDS so that the organisation has a clear strategy and direction that is consistent with NHS priorities in Primary and Secondary Care, and ICB Funding intentions. Service Plans: Contribute to the development and review of the PCDS plans to ensure that they are consistent with the service priorities and direction, NHS priorities, ICB Funding intentions and stakeholder requirements and the service is successfully delivered in accordance with agreed internal and external measures of performance. Leadership: Provide clear professional leadership to the PCDS and its staff, ensuring that performance is appropriately managed through an agreed framework, in order to ensure an efficient, effective and engaged workforce. Continuous Improvement: Lead and ensure the development of new and innovative practice across the organisation to ensure the continuous improvement of PCDS efficiency and effectiveness and the development of high standards of patient services and internal customer support. Risk and Governance: Ensure that all regulatory and risk management requirements are satisfied and to direct the development of systems, control processes which will establish safe and consistent service delivery and monitoring arrangements.
