We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Functional Skills Teacher to join a friendly and supportive team. This role offers excellent career development opportunities, as well as a chance to work in a flexible and rewarding teaching environment.
As a tutor, you will play a pivotal role in delivering centre-based lessons in English and Maths to learners from a variety of backgrounds. You'll be responsible for guiding learners from Entry Level through to Level 2/GCSE, helping them achieve their academic and personal goals while providing continuous support and motivation.
The role is centre based in Nottingham, where you'll have the opportunity to teach in a dynamic and modern facility. The team is passionate about providing high-quality education and support to ensure learners thrive, and we are looking for someone who shares that passion and commitment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. You will create well-structured and engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of learners. You will deliver interactive and motivating sessions that not only cover the curriculum but also inspire learners to succeed.
2. You will manage a caseload of learners from varying backgrounds, tailoring lessons to meet their individual needs and abilities. You'll provide both group and one-on-one support as required to help them overcome barriers and stay on track.
3. You will track and report on learners' progress, ensuring they are on target to meet their learning goals. You'll provide feedback, set new targets, and implement strategies to ensure continued improvement.
4. You will create a supportive, inclusive, and motivating classroom atmosphere where learners feel confident to ask questions, take risks, and achieve their full potential.
5. You will work closely with other team members and employers to ensure learners receive comprehensive support. You may also have the opportunity to deliver training in employer-based settings if required, providing additional flexibility in the delivery of learning.
6. Your ultimate goal will be to help learners achieve their English and Maths qualifications, from Entry Level to Level 2, including GCSE. You'll actively work to raise achievement levels, ensuring that learners feel confident in their ability to progress in their education and beyond.
Skills & Experience Required
1. You must have experience in delivering Functional Skills English and Maths across various levels, from Entry Level up to Level 2/GCSE. Familiarity with the curriculum and teaching methods is essential to support learners in achieving their qualifications.
2. Experience in working with a range of learners, including both young people and adults, is crucial. You should be able to adapt your teaching methods to meet individual needs, from learners who require additional support to those who are more advanced.
3. Recognised Teaching Qualification. A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PTLLS / PGCE) is essential for this role.
4. Strong classroom management skills are required to maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
5. A valid driving licence and access to your own transport are necessary, as travel may be required for some learner support or collaborative work with employers.
6. An L5 subject specialism in English and Maths is highly desirable but not essential.
This role offers a great opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of learners while advancing your own career. You will be part of a supportive and dedicated team committed to high standards of education and learner success. If you are passionate about teaching and are looking for a rewarding opportunity where you can help learners achieve their full potential, we'd love to hear from you.
