Maintain accurate computer and manual records relating to the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients. Maintain the integrity and security of patient Health Records at all times and especially take note of the Health Records Standards and Procedures and Record Keeping Policy. Obtain case notes as required. File investigation results. Ensure that medical notes and trolley are kept tidy and updated. Liaise with the portering department or discharge lounge to arrange transfers and discharges of patients and their property. Carry out basic office tasks for the ward i.e., photocopying, general filing, etc. Act as ward receptionist dealing with personal callers and helping to promote good public relations. Deal with telephone calls ensuring that they are diverted to the appropriate person. If necessary, take messages and ensure that they are distributed according to the local guidelines. Any other duties as agreed with the Line Manager and Ward Manager.
