The successful applicant will support a technology scale-up business, with locations in Cambridge, UK; Houston, USA and Santiago, Chile as the lead member of the finance team.
Working closely with the senior leadership team and our CFO, you'll manage the finance function of the business, contributing and supporting to the business’ growth and ongoing success.
This is a key role which carries a lot of responsibility. There will be involvement in all areas of the business and exposure to a wide variety of rewarding work and challenges. It represents a great opportunity for an individual who wants to develop in their finance career at a fast pace.
Please note this is a maternity cover, fixed termed contract role, for 13 months.
Among your specific responsibilities will be:
* Running the day-to-day operations of the finance function.
* Managing, leading and developing the finance team, currently consisting of a Senior Finance Assistant.
* Creating and implementing scalable finance processes and systems across the business to support our future growth.
* Managing key activities and operations within finance, including revenue recognition, invoicing, credit control, accounts payable, expenses, cost-management & control and cash forecasting & management.
* Ensuring high standards are maintained in all aspects of the function.
* Working with the Business Operations function, to ensure the continuous development of reporting and BI, to drive strategy and operational decision-making.
* Leading monthly payroll for our UK, Chilean and US employees.
* Managing the production of the management accounts for the UK, Chilean and US entities.
* Leading the production of our annual statutory accounts and managing the audits of those accounts.
* Business partnering the CFO and other members of the senior leadership team, providing ad hoc analysis and support.
* Managing tax compliance, including UK VAT, corporation tax, R&D reclaims, US and Chilean compliance through third-party providers and liaison with any tax authorities as required.
* Working closely with the CFO to produce the annual budget and regular forecasts.
* Supporting the CFO to deliver investor reporting, including board reports.
* Business partnering with internal teams (collaborating with non-financial/financial leads) advising and supporting on accounting and finance matters, as well as general financial support and collaboration in designing and implementing scalable processes across the business.
* Working closely with the CFO and Global People Director, forming the leadership team of People, Operations and Finance, responsible for running the back-office operations of the business.
* Supporting the CFO on the management of share options, company secretarial matters and the filing obligations for all entities.
* 5+ years’ experience in an accounting/finance position with significant responsibility, ideally in a fast-paced scale-up environment or similar.
* ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualified or equivalent.
* Experience of managing a finance team autonomously.
* Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
* Experience of international accounting, specifically US reporting preferable.

* You have exceptional all-round communication skills. You’ll be comfortable communicating through a variety of mediums, with colleagues, senior management, clients, suppliers and other stakeholders – you’ll need to be able to express yourself clearly and tailor your communication appropriately to the situation. You’ll often present to the rest of the business on new finance developments, processes and systems, as well as and business performance.
