The purpose of this role is to assist the Finance Manager in the reporting, budgeting, and forecasting for UK Retail stores, including accounting for store costs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Period/Year End Reporting and Controls
2. Assist in accounting for Retail Property costs for month/year-end actuals, by posting journals and ensuring all costs are properly accounted for
3. Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
4. Update analysis for the monthly board pack providing detailed commentary on key variances.
5. Highlight any risks and opportunities.
6. Cashflow Management
7. Preparation of rent payments due based on store turnover or fixed contracts.
8. Monthly update of occupancy costs in the cash flow forecast.
9. Budgeting, Forecasting & Longer-Term Planning:
10. Assist the Finance Manager in the budgeting and forecasting processes for stores, providing support and guidance to teams and ensuring all assumptions are appropriately challenged.
11. Update and maintain complex models on store costs including the store wage model.
12. Compile budget/forecast summaries and communicate outcomes to senior management
13. Support the Retail Finance Manager to determine assumptions for budgets and forecasts.
14. Update a rolling forecast to assess store profitability.
15. Prepare appropriate summaries to clearly communicate updated views to senior management to aid decision making for the store portfolio.
Person Specification:
1. Part qualified accountant or interest in pursuing accounting qualification (CIMA, ACA or ACCA)
2. Proactive, positive, resilient, and adaptable team player who is driven to make a difference.
3. Attention to detail.
4. Intermediate Excel skills and comfort with IT systems, with the ability to work through large amounts of data
5. Ability to work well under pressure and meet various deadlines.
6. Able to work in a fast-paced retail environment with changing conditions.
7. Excellent communication skills - ability to articulate detailed information in an easy-to-understand manner.
8. 1-2 years experience in month end, forecasting and budgeting processes.
9. Interest in Retail/Fashion environment.
Desirable:
1. Experience working within Fashion Retail environment, especially multi-site.
2. Experience using reporting systems (CODA and Cognos)
