Job summary Locally Employed Doctor (FY2 equivalent) fixed term for 12 months Barnsley Hospital invites enthusiastic and capable doctors at Foundation Year 2 level to apply for this Locally Employed Doctor post in our Trauma and Orthopaedics department. This post is ideally suited for doctors who have completed their Foundation Year 1 training or have signed off their FY1 competencies. Main duties of the job The post holder will be required: To attend formal ward rounds, outpatient and fracture clinics and operating sessions, such other ward rounds, visits to individual patients, and emergency surgery as may be necessary. To undertake elective procedures under supervision. To arrange such special examinations (x-ray, laboratories etc) as necessary Responsible for the routine pre and post-operative care of all patients admitted. Take part in the full rota including on call commitments. Specific duties may vary with the circumstances from time to time and the developing competence and interest of members of the firm. The hours of work are expected to be 8am 5pm on standard days. However this is subject to change at the departments discretion. This post does involve on call commitments and the appointed doctor will be expected to work standard days, long days and nights.
