I am seeking a compassionate individual to support my mum as a personal assistant (PA) who can provide support for her in various tasks and also provide companionship. My mum is a delightful individual who could use assistance in accessing the community and engaging in various activities that enhance her overall well-being. This role involves assisting with daily life activities and fostering an environment that promotes independence.
Location: PE 30
Job Description:
* Mum needs prompting and reassurance, but no personal care.
* Breakfast and lunch will be provided; you just need to ensure she has her breakfast and lunch.
* She enjoys cups of tea, jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her family.
* Mom was an avid reader but has limited ability now.
* You must be okay with cats (we have two, though one is likely to hide during visits).
* Provide companionship and support during outings.
* Take her to the community hub occasionally to meet neighbours.
* Help and support in and around the house.
* Any other reasonable duties as requested.
Person Specification
Essential:
* Full UK driving license holder with appropriate business insurance cover.
* The ideal candidate would require a calming, reassuring, caring, and patient demeanor.
* The person I employ must have an understanding of the need for confidentiality in all areas of work including total respect for my privacy.
Desirable:
* Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
* Flexibility in working hours to accommodate the individual's needs.
* Knowledge or experience in looking after individuals with Alzheimer’s.
Summary Terms and Conditions
* The rate of pay for this position is £11.68 per hour.
* Hours and times of work: 5 Hrs Per Week, time discussed further at interview.
* The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.
* Free Care Skills training is provided to employed staff.
* The post is subject to the following:
* A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.
* Satisfactory references from two referees, one of whom must be your current or last employer.
* Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 6 months.
