This job is for a Trust Doctor (equivalent to CT1/2) to provide care for patients for designated Consultant/team at ward level providing support to F1s and receiving support/training from both Senior trainees and Consultant staff. Whilst this post will not be recognised for training, there is a strong educational component with dedicated training in clinical, professional and personal skills., The post holder will:
+ Provide care of acute patients and be responsible for the daily management and review of patients admitted to the Trauma and Orthopedic wards of Frimley park Hospital under the guidance of the senior staff.
+ Participate in morning trauma meeting and (when on-call) evening handover.
+ On ward cover, arrive at 07:45 for handover
+ On theatre days, carry out preoperative patient review with your team and assist with surgery
+ When on-call, take A&E and external referrals and those from other departments
+ Complete the morbidity and mortality presentation of your allocated consultant in the monthly academic half-day meeting.
+ Take responsibility for your continuing professional development and attend Trust essential training, 1. Participate in morning trauma meeting and (when on-call) evening handover.
2. Ward cover, handover and morning ward round of all patients, ensuring the action plan from the handover is carried out and that there is proper daily documentation in the notes. Answer all ward calls and attend as required. Maintain an updated inpatient list.
3. On theatre days, carry out preoperative patient review with your team and assist with surgery, documentation and ensure the postoperative plan is followed. Review your postoperative patients that are staying overnight.
4. When on-call, take A&E and external referrals and those from other departments, review them and formulate a management plan with senior input. Maintain an updated patient database.
5. Comply at all times with the Trust's dress code.
6. Observe Trust policy on prevention of infection including hand washing and remaining bare below the elbows in all patient areas.
7. Take responsibility for your continuing professional development and attend Trust essential training, any clinical updates and Trust Academic Half Days as appropriate.
8. Undergo an annual appraisal as part of maintaining medical registration as required for Revalidation.
