You will be part of team of people who will manufacture products to BRC, M&S and Morrison’s Codes of Practice. Maintain your working environment to always audit ready standards. Job Scope: This section covers the breadth of the role in relation to managerial responsibility, budget responsibility, travel requirements, working relationships, levels of influence & decision-making authority. Travel requirements: This role is factory based and does not require travel, however you may be required to travel for training workshops off-site Working relationships: The role holder is required to interact effectively with managers and colleagues in other departments in the course of his/her working day, also if any visitors and contractors are on site to extend the same curtsey to them. Levels of influence: The role holder is required to influence their colleagues in their own and other departments within parameters set down by his/her manager. i.e. quality of finished good, quality of raw materials excepted, supply of raw materials to the Production area. Decision Making Authority: The role holder should operate within the structured decision-making parameters agreed with his/her manager Key Responsibilities: Working as part of a team, ensure all shifts are sufficiently covered, e.g. prompt arrival for allotted shift start time, taking correct lunch break. A level of flexibility is required to provide cover for other team members absence, holidays etc. To perform job function to highest standard following all published procedures, Health and Safety, Legal, Quality and Environmental Management regulations All downtime is to be minimised, but when occurring must be recorded accurately on the process control sheets, Engineering staff to be made aware of mechanical or electrical problems as soon as possible. To minimise waste of products and packaging whilst undertaking duties within the department. Product should not be left in machines overnight. To undertake training and to assist in training other or new members of staff as required ensuring the level of quality is maintained through the production process. To actively and positively contribute to the appraisal process and to follow up agreed actions. Also undertake such other duties as may be required within the general scope of the job To ensure that all relevant quality records are completed, with sign off where required & To assist in the review and update (where necessary) of all work instructions and procedures. To understand the critical control points identified through HACCP and ensure they are always in operation. To work within quality targets, ensuring waste reduction and improved consistency of product safety and quality. Support each member of the team you are assigned to. Achieve department KPI’s Work closely as a team to achieve agreed standards within your operation. Report through the appropriate channels any incidents of failure of food or personal safety. Maintain high standards of hygiene and housekeeping at all times. Be responsible for keeping your environment safe, clean and tidy and adhere to hygiene standards, procedures and our "clean as you go" policy. To assist in maintaining laid down procedures and practices to comply with, M&S COP and BRC standards. All accidents are to be reported to the Production Management and recorded in the accident book All parts of the factory should be kept in a tidy, organised fashion, in constant readiness for ‘third party audits.’ To carry out all automated and manual cleaning of equipment and work environment ensuring that the department is operating to the highest standards of hygiene. Work the agreed contractual hours. Occasionally staff may be required, at short notice, to alter their working hours/pattern depending on business demands. Quality of product to specified standard Person Specification Education / Qualifications / Training: Educated to GCSE level, or equivalent Experience: Essential A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a high volume food production environment. General understanding of health and safety standards. Excellent knowledge of food safety and Brand Integrity Desirable: Experience of operating process equipment in a fast moving food manufacturing environment Experience in lean management operations Experience in Working to BRC and M&S COP standards. Skills / Knowledge: Essential: Physical ability to lift and pack products. Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to build rapport with colleagues across the organisation Good written and oral communication skills Computer Literate.
