Salary / Day Rate (Interims Only): From 80,000 To 95,000
Location: Derby
This position sits within the Infrastructure division, focusing primarily on projects in the Water sector for a major tier 1 contractor.
Reporting to the Pre-construction Director, you will collaborate closely with pre-construction leads across various water frameworks. Your role will involve providing technical expertise and overseeing activities related to bids and tenders. You will manage the pre-construction process, including Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), through to final contract agreement.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Ensure design assurance by working closely with pre-construction leads and design managers to maintain compliance and diligence.
* Review client tender designs to identify risks, deficiencies, and opportunities, proposing effective mitigations.
* Support design development during tenders and contribute to programme planning.
* Coordinate external design resources and collaborate with internal and external teams to resolve design risks.
* Attend design meetings, ensuring timely action and thorough review of contract documents.
* Lead value engineering efforts and ensure smooth project handover to operations.
* Liaise with estimating and planning teams to meet tender timelines and ensure technical and commercial bid quality.
* Manage client relationships during bids, lead technical submissions, and oversee settlement meetings.
What We Need From You
* Background in engineering or construction management, ideally chartered, with 10+ years’ water industry experience.
* Strong technical knowledge, with experience in design management, commercial, or operational roles.
* Familiarity with NEC and IChemE contracts and extensive knowledge of water treatment standards.
* Strong planning, problem-solving, and bid writing skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and BIM.
* Leadership experience with excellent communication, analytical, and team management abilities.
* SMSTS and CSCS card (desirable).
