Our Property team have a new role to join them as a Risk, Controls and Finance Specialist! The Property department is a vital part of the Society’s core operations and is made up of several teams including:
1. Accommodation & Facilities
2. Protective Security
3. Estates
4. Health & Safety
5. Property Operations
6. Property Support
Collectively, the team are responsible for delivering the overall Property purpose and enabling society success.
In this role you’ll ensure risks across the Property function are identified, challenged, and reported in line with the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and other business policies. You’ll liaise with Senior Managers who are owners of audit, compliance, and risk actions across the Property function to identify risks, propose control measures and ensure resolution of actions within agreed timescales.
You’ll ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and corporate governance standards, and will establish and monitor internal controls, ensuring adherence to internal policies and industry best practices, thereby reducing the risk of non-compliance and associated penalties.
Supporting the Manager – Property Support in managing departmental financial processes will also be an important part of the role. To do this successfully you will have an eye for detail and support the department’s prompt processing of invoices, purchase orders, payments, accruals, and financial receipting/balancing.
This will be a key role within the Property team for someone with good risk management and financial experience and who can apply broad, practical thinking across a diverse function. You’ll be someone who can confidently act as a subject matter expert, engage positively with key stakeholders, and keep pace with changing internal and external expectations in a continually evolving landscape.
This role is offered as part time (28 hours) but full time applications are welcomed and would be considered. Hybrid working applies, based in Binley, Coventry as needed to perform the role and to build relationships within and beyond Property. We may close this advert sooner than advertised.
About You
For this role you’ll already have proven analytical skills and be able to review data and identify issues which require follow up, escalation and identifying root causes. This role is for someone with a good understanding or experience of managing risks and controls, ideally with a background of the regulatory environment surrounding financial services or property / premises.
Excellent planning and organising skills and being able to prioritise effectively will be key. You’ll naturally be inquisitive, have good attention to detail, a high level of accuracy, be methodical and highly organised in your approach with the ability to work on your own initiative. Engaging with a range of different stakeholders at multiple levels will be critical and you’ll be able to present your conclusions both verbally and in writing to a high standard.
Strong stakeholder management, persuading and influencing skills will be a must! You’ll have the ability to assess compliance to policy and recommend where necessary any mitigating actions, and you’ll already be proficient in MS Office including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
