The Opportunity As the Commissioning Governance Engineer, the primary goal is to help establish and maintain a robust framework of controls that ensures tasks and decisions during the Commissioning Phase are carried out by qualified individuals with the right authority. What you’ll be doing As the Commissioning Engineer, you will oversee and analyse the application of controls that ensure teams with the proper authority can carry out tasks and make decisions. You will support the ongoing maintenance of governance processes, reporting any anomalies to senior engineers, and applying lessons learned and best practices for continuous improvement. You will also play an administrative role in organisational maturity governance activities, gaining valuable experience and developing your skills through increased involvement over time. The position requires attending key meetings and panels that provide additional oversight, including the Testing & Commissioning Panel, Authority to Test Review Meetings, System Ownership Panels, System Review Board, and Plant Health Committee. In addition, you will assist in preparing company Hold Points related to commissioning to manage significant changes in risk and ensure project progress. You will also serve as a coordinator between the Commissioning Delivery team and manage the Commissioning Control Point procedure. Who you are As a key member of the team, you’ll bring a strong technical engineering background in either industrial, power generation, or process engineering. Be able to demonstrate the ability to perform effectively under pressure and adapt to unexpected changes. Strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to innovate, think laterally, and implement efficient processes are essential. A growth mindset and resilience in learning from setbacks are also key attributes. Additionally, you will be proficient in both oral and written communication, with the ability to convey complex information to various stakeholders, contractors, departments, and project teams. Hold a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline and have experience in the management and oversight of commissioning, maintenance, and/or operations. A background in assurance, governance, or regulatory compliance is highly valued. Experience with Integrated Management Systems, particularly in a project environment, is beneficial. Be a full member (or working towards full membership) in an internationally recognised engineering body or other relevant professional organisation.
