Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater.
Are you a skilled Engineer ready to take the next step in your career? Do you have experience in configuration management with strong problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills? Are you someone who thrives in a dynamic environment where every day brings new challenges and opportunities? If so, come and join EDF as a Technical Integration Engineer!
The Opportunity
EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is tasked with delivering the design for several nuclear island (NI) buildings, systems, and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project. This involves working through an integrated team, supporting HPC construction and commissioning efforts, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. As a result, a Technical Directorate is being established to oversee the engineering disciplines and technical expertise needed to successfully deliver these projects through EPR-E’s integrated teams.
As a Technical Integration Engineer, you’ll support design configuration activities (OPM & UKDC) and ensure process governance within the Joint Design Organisation (JDO). You’ll collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, including Technical Direction EPR-E/Edvance & CNEPE, and assist the JDO Configuration Manager in preparing Design Change and Open Point Committees.
In line with promoting a strong data culture, you’ll develop and maintain essential tools and data assets, such as KPI dashboards and custom tool solutions, to support decision-making and improve operational efficiency.
Pay, benefits and culture
Alongside a salary from £52,000 to £55,000 and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.
We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.
At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that support collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.
Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.
We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.
We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.
What you’ll be doing
You will work closely with the JDO Configuration Manager to manage design configuration activities, including design changes, open points, and technical interfaces. This involves coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a consistent and optimised design for the project. You will also represent the team at key project committees, ensuring technical decisions align with the overall project objectives.
Another key part of the role is preparing and delivering performance reports. You will be responsible for compiling weekly dashboards, monthly and annual reports, and analysing JDO-DT performance in collaboration with Discipline Leads. By identifying performance trends and understanding variations, you will contribute to improving project efficiency and performance monitoring.
Additionally, you will focus on the development and maintenance of tools that support JDO-DT disciplines, creating custom programs (Python, VBA) to streamline processes and enhance the team’s efficiency. Part of your role will include responding to site layout queries under the supervision of the Area Team Lead, ensuring compliance with design and construction specifications. You will also provide guidance and support to colleagues, promoting best practices in data management and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
Who you are
You’ll have a strong coordination and technical skills to manage multiple interfaces and ensure efficient configuration in a complex project. Knowledge of the HPC project or previous EPR experience is a big plus, especially in configuration management and technical processes.
You’ll need experience working on projects with multiple interfaces and an understanding of nuclear power plant operations and safety aspects like fire protection, flooding, and radiological protection. Skills in 2D and 3D design tools such as Navisworks are desirable.
We’re looking for someone with programming experience in Python and VBA to help develop tools and automate processes. You should be comfortable creating technical solutions, analysing processes, and working with different teams to maintain project consistency.
If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!
Closing date for applications: 11th February 2025
Success is personal. It’s your journey, powered by us. Join us and we’ll help Britain achieve Net Zero, together.
