Support Engineer - Workplace Technology Services is a highly visible infrastructure role that requires commitment to providing a high-quality service to meet customer project demand.
This role is required to work a 12 hour, 4 on 4 off shift pattern (Days and nights 7-7).
Your place of work will rotate between two main client sites, one based in Slough, Berkshire and one based in Farringdon, London.
What you’ll be doing as our Support Engineer - Workplace Technology Services:
3. Build, Rack and Stack Network and Server hardware in Data Centre Halls and co-lo’s and provide connectivity.
4. Perform Network Hardware break-fix activities e.g. replacing power supplies, modules, fans etc.
5. Monitor the client’s ticket system and ensure tickets are assigned and completed within SLA.
6. Carry out all types of patching / jumpering including all types of voice & data, copper & fibre.
7. Carry out testing and fault finding on Copper and Fibre Cabling Infrastructure (including ISDN Line Tests) using a variety of modern testers to include continuity testers, tone generators and modern cabling standards testers.
8. Carry out all types of Copper Voice and Data terminations as required by the Onnec portfolio of cabling systems.
9. Audit and document existing cabling installations.
10. Audit and document desktop configuration, including patching and power, for existing and proposed user locations.
11. Compile patching schedules as required.
12. Utilise Cable Management Software as required for patching planning.
13. Provide connectivity support to desktop users.
14. Power down and disconnect all desktop equipment including any peripherals ensuring all identified and labelled correctly ready for reconnection.

16. Maintain accurate records of all stock delivered and update as stock is used and advise line manager of any requirements, shortfalls.
17. Carry out surveys and update drawings and schedules.
What we’re looking for in our Support Engineer - Workplace Technology Services:
18. Experience working in a Data Centre and office environment
19. Experience in an Installation, Moves Adds and Changes environment (IT Hardware deployment).
20. Experience in structured cabling installation, fault finding and testing with fluke test equipment.
21. Good knowledge of structured cabling standards and cable types (FTP,UTP & Optical Fibre)
22. Good MS Office Suite experience (Outlook, Excel, Word etc)
23. Self-starter, organized, detailed-oriented and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
24. Prioritization skills and multitasking ability.
25. Ability to work under pressure.
26. Knowledge of Asset Management Systems
27. Knowledge of Ticketing Systems
28. An understanding of complex change management and service delivery processes.
29. Ability to lead / supervise shift activities.
30. A flexible ‘can do attitude’
