The Registered Nurse is a vital and valued role to support in providing high-quality, compassionate nursing care to patient/clients and their families/carers.
Based on Elderly Care- Ward 9B you will work closely with the department / ward manager and multi-disciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining policies, standards of nursing care, staff and service development within the ward.

Main duties of the job
1. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care needs of patients from admission (or before) to discharge, with the involvement of patients and their relatives/carers.
2. Participate in the ongoing training, supervision and support of registered and non-registered nursing staff. This includes Trainee Assistant Practitioners, Clinical Support Workers undertaking apprenticeships and pre-registration Student Nurses.
3. Evaluation of own knowledge and practice and makes effective use of appropriate learning opportunities, such as department training, Trust training, conference attendance, shadow staff, literature searching and reading.
4. Communicate effectively and work in partnership with patients, nursing colleagues, the Multidisciplinary Team and all other relevant personnel.
5. Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations, utilise escalation strategies, such as SBAR and pathways.
