The Radiation Physics (Non-Ionising) Department is based at Poole Hospital and provides services to University Hospitals Dorset NHS Trust, other NHS providers and a number of local private hospitals, clinics & dentists. This is a scientific, technical and clinical measurement service, provided by a team of Healthcare Scientists and Practitioners.,
* Provide (and assist in the development of) radiation protection and quality assurance ofnon-ionising radiation installations and equipment. This includes the provision of clinical technical services to a wide range of professional clients. This work will include evaluating the imaging performance and / or safety of; MRI scanners, ultrasound scanners, UV phototherapy treatment units, lasers, other hospital EMF sourcesrequiring high precision measurements.
* Assist in implementing legislation, professional guidance and current good practice advice in radiation protection.
* Arrange and perform appropriate routine area and environmental monitoring and report findings to the appropriate MRSE or LPA.
* Assess the radiation protection and imaging performance aspects of appropriate non ionising radiations medical equipment, as part of the commissioning process.
* Evaluate long term performance of appropriate equipment.
* Acquire and maintain knowledge of appropriate equipment and techniques.
